HOUSTON (August 31, 2001) - Money Management International (MMI) announced the creation of the Money Management International Education Foundation (the Foundation). This independently incorporated and operated entity will educate the general public on sound personal financial skills and money management principles by developing, delivering, and supporting programs that teach those skills and principles.
MMI is the largest full service, non-profit credit counseling organization in the nation. Thousands of individuals contact MMI each month, many simply needing assistance with prioritizing their spending and finances. "We believe that a pro-active approach to building sound money management skills is preferred over rehabilitative services," said Ivan Hand, President and CEO. Each year, MMI educates tens of thousands of consumers on the basics of money management and the wise use of credit through community programs and Internet resources.
MMI’s commitment to educating the public on wise credit use and personal financial skills may be most apparent in it’s recent founding of the Foundation. This foundation is dedicated to educating consumers nationwide on the fundamentals of fiscal responsibility. "By founding this non-profit educational organization, MMI will be able to expand its campaign for financial literacy," stated Ivan Hand, President and CEO.
Grants will be offered through the foundation to non-profit organizations that have a program or project that encompass one or more of the following:
- Development and delivery of financial education programs, tools and materials.
- Distribution of educational materials.
- Operating costs associated with a financial education project.
- Individual education endeavors (i.e. scholarships, grants, etc.) for qualifying financial education programs.
