HOUSTON (November 18, 2002) - The Money Management International Financial Education Foundation (the Foundation) announced today that it has funded a grant to support the “Credit Education Center” that Consumer Credit Counseling of Springfield, Missouri founded and operates. This center is used to develop and provide credit education to the general public, especially the youth.
In December 2000, CCCS of Springfield constructed a 40-seat classroom, known as the “Credit Education Center”. The facility is equipped with the latest, state of the art, audio, video and computer presentation equipment. This equipment is integrated to work directly with an interactive computer learning system. This system allows each student to receive a wireless keypad to answer questions in a competition mode.
Numerous schools, clubs and organizations have taken advantage of bringing kids in to use this system and learn the many valuable financial lessons included within the system. “The Foundation is excited to assist with the resources CCCS of Springfield needs to continue spreading the news of wise credit use and basic money management through this innovative method,” stated Ivan Hand, President & CEO.
Credit education to the youth is the heart of the CCCS Springfield’s education mission. In addition to the Credit Education Center, CCCS of Springfield conducts numerous classes each year in their local schools. .
The Foundation operates to educate the general public on sound personal financial skills and money management principles by developing, delivering, and supporting programs that teach those skills and principles. "We feel that providing funding to “Credit Education Center” fits the Foundation’s mission by teaching the youth basic money management skills and the wise use of credit," added Hand. "I believe that an interactive and exciting way of approaching finances is key to really reaching these students and the Foundation is pleased to assist CCCS Springfield in this endeavor."
