Continuing to fulfill its mission of educating the general public on sound financial skills, Money Management International Financial Education Foundation (MMI Foundation) is partnering for the fifth year in a row with the Arizona Council on Economic Education (ACEE) to fund its Financial Fitness for Life Program.
An MMI Foundation grant was presented to benefit the ACEE 2007 Financial Fitness for Life Program. The program’s mission is to help students develop economic ways of thinking and problem solving that they can use in their lives as knowledgeable consumers, savers and investors to become productive members of the workforce, responsible citizens and informed participants in a global economy.
“Because many students do not graduate, or go on to college, it is essential to teach personal finance skills and literacy in school,” said MMI Foundation President Steve Bucci.
The Financial Fitness for Life Program will teach students and parents alike about earning an income, spending wisely, saving and investing, using credit wisely and most importantly managing money.
“Students across the state, including Native American and Hispanic communities, will be empowered through developing the skills and knowledge they will use in making financial decisions throughout their life,” said ACEE (spokesperson).
In 2006, Financial Fitness for Life impacted 325 teachers in the Arizona school districts who then directly impacted more than 50,000 K-12 students. The goal for 2007 is to impact 400 teachers and more than 60,000 students, a 25 percent increase.
