Recognizing the important work being done by the Utah Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy, Money Management International Financial Education Foundation (MMI Foundation) has awarded a grant to help fund the 5th annual $tart $mart Financial Literacy Summit. Focusing on teachers in grades K-8, the summit is scheduled for October of this year.
“Our missions are very similar and we are glad to be in position to offer help for this wonderful program and organization,” said Steve Bucci, president, MMI Foundation. “The MMI Foundation seeks to educate persons on sound financial management skills and the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is dedicated to improving personal financial literacy in Utah’s children.”
More than 300 educators will participate in financial education workshops designed to prepare students for the Utah required high school course in financial literacy.
“This summit is widely known as a substantive educational event and it is vital to improving the financial education of Utah’s students,” said Jodi Jones, chair, Board of Directors of the Utah Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.
The MMI Foundation’s grant is the fifth grant to be presented to a local Jump$tart Coalition in the last five years. The statewide organization is dedicated to helping students from kindergarten to college move into adulthood knowing how to make informed monetary decisions, achieve greater personal wealth and contribute to a stronger state and national economy.
Funded as an extension to the education and counseling Money Management International (www.moneymanagement.org) provides, the MMI Financial Education Foundation exists to educate the general public on building sound personal financial skills by supporting programs that teach those skills and principles.
